Restaurant Story

My apologies, as this is a bit of a vintage post, for one reason or another I have completely neglected to share one of my top dining experiences to date, a night at Restaurant Story near London Bridge (headed by Tom Sellers).

Unfortunately, as so much time has passed, I have completely forgotten what half of these beautifully crafted offerings were, so I’ll leave it up to your imagination.  I can, however, tell you honestly that everything was absolutely scrummy.

The concept is (as you may well have guessed) based on the story book, there are books everywhere and nothing is quite as it seems…

I couldn’t forget these, squid ink oreos!

And a candle made of beef dripping that accumulates in the dish below, ripe for the dipping!

The main dishes were quite theatrical…

Dara, very kindly showcasing the bread we were served for our melted beef dripping candle.

And a dish that’s sole focus was to celebrate the underrated and modest onion.

This desert was delicious, best described as ‘almonds – three ways’.

My drinks pairings, racking up with terrifying speed…

And a michelin-starred tea cake, what better way is there to finish a dark winter’s eve?!

Restaurant Story is a playful and friendly place to spend your pennies on a meal out.  You probably won’t need to eat for a week if you do go, so it’s certainly value for money!
