The Ledbury

We finally made it, we became…Chartered Accountants.

Ha!  Not the sexiest accomplishment in the world, but my goodness, was it tough getting there!  After three years of grueling exams, it is finally over.

So we celebrate, 6 months later, because that’s how long it has taken to get a table at The Ledbury and to get time in each others’ diaries!  Alice has very recently become my roomie/landlady, so the reasons to celebrate were in plentiful supply.


The Ledbury is delightfully small, so now I understand why getting a reservation is no easy feat.


We chose to eat from the tasting menu, to make the most of our long awaited visit.  We were not disappointed.  The food party started with the most delicious squid ink and guinea fowl bites.


Followed by warm venison spheres (like very refined, miniature steak and ale pies).


We were then treated to a cacophony of fresh spring greens.


Followed by beetroot, many ways.


Now, this course was a little controversial, as it was a celebration of the mushroom (I’m not a fan), so I slipped most of it over to Alice’s plate.  However I can appreciate this was the most beautiful dish.

More mushrooms…morels.  Again, really not a fan of these ones, but by all accounts, as far as morels go, these were delicious.


Iberico pork, a mouthwatering finale to our savoury courses.


Strawberry granita with milk flakes and a spiced doughnut (mmmmm).



The meal ended with a brown sugar tart with stem ginger ice cream, a surprising success!  Followed by after dinner nibbles: truffles, earl grey jellies and juniper sticks.




It was the perfect end to a delicious weekend!

    Congrats! What a lovely way to celebrate! I also became a CA about 8 months ago so can completely understand how you feel 🙂
